In language arts, we focus on spelling and writing skills. Our spelling is built in organically with our writing. Instruction begins by building a quality paragraph that includes a topic and closing sentence, details, explanatory sentences, and transition words. Daily opportunities provide practice and exposure to multiple types of creative writing throughout the year. All students are expected to complete extended pieces of writing that follow the formal writing process.
